Hello! I am Sean McCaughan, a freelance writer and design critic from Miami, FL, where skyscrapers look like clouds. I was the Founding Editor of Curbed Miami, which I helmed for just under four years. I have written for The New York Times, The Architects Newspaper, American Way Magazine, Ocean Drive Magazine, Tropic Magazine, Domus, Motherboard.tv, Interview Magazine.com, CLOG, The Independent Florida Alligator, The Fine Print, and others.

I have a partial MFA in Design Criticism from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and a BA in Art History, with a minor in Classics, from the University of Florida. After graduating from UF, I went to work as the Special Projects Coordinator for Shulman + Associates, an architecture firm in Miami, where my job description included publications, marketing, and academic work. I have also interned in the curatorial departments of The Museum of the City of New York, the Bass Museum of Art, and the Harn Museum of Art.

I’m available for writing assignments, business prospects, and new friends. My areas of particular expertise are architecture, development, design, real estate, history, art, and culture. I’m also interested in book writing opportunities and curating.
